At Pressed, we’ve made it our mission to pave the way for plant-forward living while being mindful of our impact on the planet. Here are some of the ways we are working to put sustainability into action so we can be your partner for a better future.

Reducing Food Waste

Mindful Sourcing

Most of the produce we source would not be sold in grocery stores due to superficial irregularities.

Purposeful Pressing

Our hydraulic press uses a tremendous amount of pressure to extract the flavor, nutrients, and enzymes while minimizing excess waste. The pulp that remains is repurposed as animal feed.

Routine Donations

Our retail team partners with local organizations to donate most products that are nearing their best-by date.

Crafting Better Packaging

Better Plastic

We are committed to reducing our use of virgin plastic due to its significant carbon footprint. Our juice and smoothie bottles are made from 100% rPET, a lightweight and sustainable plastic that is fully recyclable, collectively saving over 300,000 pounds of virgin plastic annually.

Better Boxes

Our shipping boxes are crafted with sustainability in mind, recyclable, use recyclable box liners and our ice packs can be repurposed as plant food.

Better Spoons

We partnered with Greenprint to bring you spoons made from agave waste, which biodegrade in landfill conditions within 1-3 years—compared to up to 1,000 years for plastic spoons—significantly reducing their environmental impact.

Understanding our carbon footprint is key to reducing our environmental impact. We teamed up with Watershed, an enterprise climate platform, to get a clear picture of where we stand and where we can make meaningful improvements.

Through extensive work with Watershed we were able to measure our direct and indirect emissions across our entire business.

Our measurement adheres to the GHG (Greenhouse Gas) Protocol and includes everything from growing the produce we use to shipping, manufacturing, retailing and the end life of our products. As always, our goal is to be as transparent with our customers as possible as we work toward a more sustainable future. From ingredient sourcing to product distribution, packaging and retail store locations, here’s how our total carbon emissions stacked up in 2021:

Why It Matters
& What We’re Doing

While climate change affects everyone, those that lack social and economic resources can be disproportionately impacted. Infrastructure damage, complications to everyday health, and irregular weather patterns are just a few of many observable changes brought by climate change.

The time to act is now. In fact, based on reliable estimates the food and beverage category comprises a whopping 34% of man-made global emissions .

While Pressed 2021 annual emissions are below the latest available food and beverage industry average (per $1M of revenue), we still have plenty of work to do. After taking a closer look at our numbers, we discovered that distribution and packaging were our biggest emission drivers so we’ve prioritized making adjustments in the hopes of making a more significant impact.



Beyond the strides we have made in improving our packaging, we are actively working with our supply chain partners to take fewer trips to stores in order to make the most of every mile. Additionally, we are opening more distribution centers to transport more of our product in bulk and limit wasteful miles.

Lastly, we started shipping a portion of our product via rail to further limit unnecessary emissions.

What's Next

We’re proud of the steps we have taken to nurture the planet as we nourish our customers, but our commitment to sustainability is an ongoing pledge.


Here’s how we’re collaborating with others to put the planet first:

We partnered with fashion company OAK + FORT to repurpose our bottles, turning them into artwork at their pop-up store.

We collaborated with sustainable fashion company For Days and asked customers to recycle our bottles in exchange for clothes or recycle used clothing in exchange for Pressed juices.

We supported Kiss the Ground’s regenerative agriculture movement through a month-long campaign and launched recycling events across our retail stores to help prevent bottles from going into landfills.
